Fostering saves lives! We depend on foster homes to care for Take Paws Rescue dogs until
suitable homes are found. Fostering a dog is an incredibly rewarding experience.

The general purpose of a Foster is to provide a safe and loving temporary home to an animal while he/she is waiting to be adopted. The role requires commitment, compassion, and knowledge about how to care for the animal you are fostering.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily care to the foster animal

  • Transport your foster to the vet as needed/instructed

  • Take photos of your foster or arrange for a photography volunteer to take photos for you

  • Evaluate the personality and temperament of your fosters

  • RSVP to Take Paws Events and make arrangements for your foster to attend as many events as possible

  • Keep all documentation and records regarding your fosters and send it to your foster coordinator

  • Provide medicine to fosters if needed

  • Assist in the training and development of the foster dog’s manners, obedience, and social skills
